Service Supervisor Midwest Culinary Institute (MCI)


Cincinnati State is looking for a part-time Food Service Supervisor for the Midwest Culinary Institute food services operations. The qualified candidate for this position will perform a variety of administrative and kitchen tasks related to the operations of the Overlook Cafe, the Summit restaurant, campus banquet events, and academic sponsored culinary activities. The Food Service Supervisor requires an individual that works well under pressure with excellent customer service, management and organizational skills. Flexible hours, may include some evenings and weekends.

Essential Duties:

  • Supervises MCI Associates and assigns tasks.
  • Monitors and reviews completed tasks; ensures that any necessary changes or corrections are made.
  • Maintains established standards of recipes and portions to ensure that customers are offered quality at all times.
  • Maintains inventory; assists in forecasting needs and placing orders for materials and supplies.
  • Responsible for ensuring all kitchen equipment is in good working condition and is properly maintained.
  • Knowledgeable of point of sales type systems, including balancing accounts and preparing deposits.
  • Ensures that the kitchen facility is always safe and sanitary.
  • Resolves customer issues.

Minimum Qualifications

  • One (1) year of experience in a professional food service/dining environment
  • Associate's degree
  • National Restaurant Association accredited course completions: Sanitation, Nutrition and Supervision
  • Ability to work flexible schedules which may include evenings and weekends as needed
  • Ability to lift/move a minimum of 25 pounds
  • Ability to raise and lower arms, stoop, bend, carry, push heavy objects

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Associate's Degree in Culinary Arts

  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to communicate/interact effectively with a diverse professional, community, and student population to provide a good impression of the College.

  • Excellent customer service skills in problem solving, analytical, decision-making, project management skills, and time management.
  • Possess the ability to be innovative with demonstrated commitment to student success.
  • Ability and willingness to work with students of various abilities and diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions.

Comp. Range:                       $13.00 - $15.00 per hour based on credentials/experience
