Teacher, William Mallory Early Learning Center


Cincinnati State Technical and Community College is seeking a full-time Teacher at the William Mallory Early Learning Center. Under general supervision of the Center Director, this position will assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate educational program for children in assigned classroom.

Essential Duties:

  • Assist Lead Teacher in setting up and maintaining a safe, healthy, nurturing environment for children.
  • Maintain neat, clean appearance and dress appropriately for interaction with the children.
  • Maintain a communicative relationship with young children in the expression of needs and feelings, which will foster the development of positive self-concepts.
  • Assist in developing and implementing lesson plans within Creative Curriculum, Gold objectives, and Ohio's Early Learning and Development Standards.
  • Assume responsibility for classroom operation in absence of Lead Teacher.
  • Document observed progress of children to support assessments of children.
  • Assist Lead Teacher with assessments of children.
  • Participate and contribute to staff meetings.
  • Maintain shared areas in an orderly fashion.
  • Attend in-service training and keep abreast of current issues in early childhood education.
  • Act as an "ambassador" for the Center while maintaining an overall positive attitude about the Center and its members.
  • Observe all policies of the Center and adhere to (NAEYC) National Association for the Education of Young Children Code of Ethics.
  • Understand and comply with Day Care Licensing regulations, Ohio's Step Up to Quality standards and NAEYC standards.
  • Flexible to changes in hours or duties as necessary to maintain proper, successful operation of the Center.
  • Assist Lead Teacher in maintaining necessary records and paperwork.
  • Responsive, creative and professional in developing a positive relationship with parents. Refer parents to Lead Teacher or Director as necessary.
  • Maintain promptness and notifies Director of impending absence.
  • Report child or Center management problems to Director promptly
  • Perform additional duties as requested by the Lead Teacher or Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Required to complete 15 hours of in-service training per year.
  • Required to complete day care licensing training: CPR, first aid, communicable disease and child abuse recognition.
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible schedule as Center and shift hours are subject to change to accommodate the business and operational needs of the Center and the College.
  • Meet Child Day Care Licensing staff person requirements.
  • Must be able to bend, kneel, squat, lift 50 pounds, push, pull, sit on floor and small chairs, get up and down frequently, see and hear children as required by Child Day Care licensing regulations for child supervision.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education.
  • Minimum six months of work experience in the Early Childhood Education field.
