Adjunct Medical Laboratory Technician Hematology/Hemostasis Instructor



Cincinnati State Technical and Community College invite applications for an Adjunct Medical Laboratory Technician Hematology/Hemostasis Applications Instructor. This position includes teaching responsibilities for teaching a hematology/hemostasis simulated laboratory course in the Medical Laboratory Technician Program offered during the first half of the summer semester. This position requires an individual that works well with others as a team member to achieve shared vision and goals for the Cincinnati State Medical Laboratory Technician Program.


Essential Duties:

Determine materials needed, operate instruments and facilitate student laboratories.

Evaluate student performance daily and assign grades according to program standards.

Challenge, engage and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect.

Promote student success by showing flexibility in style and work schedule as well as exhibiting a passion for teaching students and engaging them in the learning process.

Complete all end of term responsibilities, including submission of final grades, copies of exams, attendance records, and all other designated materials on a timely basis to the Academic Office.

Consult with program chair or other appropriate College personnel on questions or issues involving course curricula, instructional strategies, and College policies and procedures.

Respond to requests (e.g., from students, faculty, department heads, committee chairs, Records Office) in a timely and thorough manner.


Minimum Qualifications:

Baccalaureate degree and certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP).

A minimum four (4) years of recent work experience in a Medical Laboratory, including hematology and hemostasis



Preferred Qualifications:

Documented experience with active teaching and learning strategies in a community college, professional training or other higher education environment.

Demonstrate sensitivity to students with diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds and students with disabilities.

Excellent interpersonal skills including written and oral with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse professional, community, and student population.

Team player that is self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.

Demonstrated ability to work with others, assuring timeliness, dependability and accuracy.

Knowledge and skill in computer usage and basic laboratory information systems.

Ability to troubleshoot basic hematology and hemostasis instruments using manuals

Compensation:                       $550 per contact hour
