Overview:

Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, Workforce Development Center, invites applications for a part-time non-tenure-track Adjunct to begin at our Evendale Campus location beginning immediately. Qualified candidates will need to teach college-level courses to our technical, transfer degree and non-degree seeking students in our Workforce Development Center. Responsibilities will include instructing students and providing relevant class/lab experiences needed to assist them in learning how to read and interpret blueprints.

Essential Duties:

  • Manage, organize, and teach Blueprint 1, Blueprint 2 and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GDT) courses
  • Create syllabi, course materials, and assignments to support course learning outcomes
  • Ensure that students achieve course learning outcomes as defined in the syllabus
  • Responsible for utilizing diverse instructional strategies in response to student learning style
  • Responsible for increasing student retention, success and completion
  • Provides blueprint reading instruction for the Machine Operator Program
  • Assist student(s) with online training
  • Instruct student(s) with how to read and interpret blueprints
  • Instruct student(s) in understanding visualization of shapes, line usage and information contained in title blocks
  • Instruct student(s) as to how dimensions and tolerances are used
  • Instruct student(s) how sectional views and machining details are used to provide additional detail on drawings
  • Instruct students on the identification of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GDT) symbols, as well as, how datum surfaces and tolerances are utilized
  • Maintain electronic record (using Blackboard) of student performance, progress and attendance
  • Complete, as directed, all start and end of term responsibilities, including submission of no-show rosters and final grades

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in mechanical engineering or manufacturing
  • At least 5 years' work experience directly related to the reading and/or drawing of industrial prints

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years' teaching experience at a community college or a university branch campus or 5 years' teaching experience in a vocational/technical capacity.
  • Online distance education instruction experience a plus.

  • Ability to organize and manage student instruction.
  • Experience teaching or working closely and effectively with a diverse student population.
  • Sensitivity to the needs and concerns of diverse student populations, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds, and students with disabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including written and oral with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse professional, community, and student population
  • Ability and willingness to successfully interact with academic, business and regulatory personnel.
  • Team player that is self-motivated with strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Knowledge and skill in a variety of computer usage and software are required.
