Adjunct Industrial Crane Maintenance


Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, Workforce Development Center, invites applications for a part-time non-tenure-track Adjunct Instructor to begin at our Middletown Campus. The Adjunct Instructor for the Industrial Crane Maintenance program will be responsible for setting up and delivering hands-on Industrial Crane Maintenance training which involves: hydraulics, motors (AC/DC), motor controls, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), troubleshooting and electronic systems.

Crane maintenance workers are responsible for the inspection, diagnosis, repair and maintenance of various stationary and mobile crane equipment.

Essential Duties:

  • Deliver learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.
  • Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons. Note preparation time will vary based on instructor experience in teaching that course.
  • Provide each student with clear course expectations, evaluations and timelines through carefully written outlines and approved, standardized syllabus.
  • Provide interesting and relevant assignments for students that demonstrate learning outcomes in a real-life setting.
  • Suitably challenge, engage, serve and communicate with students to encourage their participation and learning while maintaining mutual value and respect.
  • Complete grade books, grade sheets, learning assessments and final examinations on a timely basis.
  • Ensure course and program learning outcomes are delivered as defined by the syllabus.
  • Maintain a paper or electronic record (i.e., spreadsheet or grade book) of each student's progress and has it available upon request by students and/or appropriate College personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 1 - 3 years of experience working as an electrical or mechanical crane maintenance technician, maintenance manager or field service engineer.
  • At least one year of industry or business experience in the teaching subject area.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching crane maintenance topics at a College, Career Center or other training institution.
  • Extensive experience in the installation and maintenance of industrial crane systems.
  • Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas: AC/DC circuitry, Motor Controls, Program Logic Controllers and Hydraulics.
  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree in Industrial or Mechanical Maintenance or a closely related degree from a regionally accredited educational institution.

  • Compensation: $40 - $45/hour for instruction, $18 an hour for Prep/Lab work
  • Contractual Affiliation: N/A
  • Exempt Classification: Non-Exempt
  • Status:  Part-time
