The mission of ITS is to integrate technology into instruction and operations in a manner that reflects the current realities of the higher-education environment and the world at large. As a premiere two-year higher-education institution, the core of our operations is built around information and systems that manage the College. This position will be responsible for hands-on management of the virtualized platforms (VMview, VMware, etc.) and SharePoint systems while maintaining interfaces to academic, administrative, and special purpose systems such as the Enterprise Resource Information System, planned Customer Relationship Management system, and others.
DEVELOP, MAINTAIN, and SUPPORT technical infrastructure, hardware and system
software components for SharePoint and VMware. Perform installation, maintenance, and
support of system software/hardware and user support. Configure, debug, and support the
SharePoint and VMware/VMview infrastructure platforms. RESPONDS to Help-Desk
PLANS, COORDINATES, and MONITORS the progress of development projects
To assure their ongoing alignment with instructional and administrative goals. DEPLOY and ADMINISTER the VDC (Virtual Data Center) infrastructure for classroom delivery.
Collaborating with programmers/analysts, Deans, Department Managers and ITS team
managers on supporting the SharePoint's data architecture.
RESPONSIBLE for set-up, capacity planning, goverence and change control, database management, back-ups and restores, security, system updates,and on-going maintenance of Sharepoint web, VMware, VMview, and Infopath services.
MAINTAIN, MANAGE, and REPORT on SharePoint web, application, index query, and Database Servers in accordance with best practices. Performs high-level root cause analysis for service interruption recovery and creating preventive measures.
REVIEWS and APPROVES all proposed systems solutions, including staff, resource, cost, and time requirements.
UNDERSTANDING and EVALUATING administrative and academic requirements and translating them into specific database solutions. CREATING data design models, database architecture and data repository design. Providing leadership in establishing and documenting data standards. CREATING and TESTING database prototypes.
Maintains competency and enhances professional growth and development
through continuing education and conferences.
Ability to work with technical and non-technical faculty and staff while providing a high level
of customer satisfaction.
PERFORMS other tasks as assigned or as needed.
Two-year technical degree or 2 years of experience in a full-service IT operation. Thorough knowledge of IT technology and methods, concepts and facilities such as in project management, systems development and support.
The position also requires excellent operational knowledge of configuring SharePoint Server, Windows SharePoint services, InfoPath, SQL, SharePoint Designer, VMware, VMview, and other VMware products. vCenter/ESX experience a strong plus. Five years or more of experience in an IT support services environment combined with three years of SharePoint administration experience.
• Bachelor's degree in related field.
