Instructor - Computer Network Administration (Tenure Track)


Cincinnati State Technical and Community College invites applications for the position of Instructor to teach Computer Networking. The position is a full-time; tenure-track faculty position in which the primary responsibilities are to develop and teach various courses in Computer Networking and Support. This position will be responsible for classroom, hybrid, or online instruction in network administration and computer support related technologies.

As part of our team of highly qualified faculty, Instructors are expected to provide high quality instruction and work with industry, college administration, staff, and faculty to improve student learning experiences and be committed to the mission and values of the College.

Cincinnati State Technical and Community College was chartered in 1969, and today offers more than 75 associate degree and 40 certificate programs in business technologies, health and public safety, engineering technologies, humanities and sciences and information technologies. Essential Duties:

  • Deliver learning-centered instruction by establishing a classroom environment conducive to learning and student involvement as well as effectively planning and preparing for classes and student success.
  • Adequately prepare all course materials and lessons. Assist in the development of new and the maintenance of existing courses/curricula. Review, evaluate, and recommend student textbooks and learning materials.
  • Must be able to apply theory and concepts in a laboratory environment.
  • Provide each student with clear concise expectations, evaluations and timelines through carefully written topical outlines and approved, standardized syllabus.
  • Complete grade books, final grade sheets, learning assessments, and final exam assessments on a timely basis.

  • Participate in program and divisional efforts for students in assigned programs and participate in program and divisional activities for student recruitment.
  • Establish annual goals relevant to program expectations and consistent with the goals of the program, division and college.
  • Submit student grades, administrative reports, and other paperwork in a thorough and timely manner.
  • Maintain office hours in accordance with college policies.
  • Attend program, departmental, divisional, and college meetings.
  • Attend and contribute to assigned college committees.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Working knowledge of networking and associated technologies which include:
    • Networking infrastructure
    • Operating systems
    • Servers and hardware installation
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Two years of computer network(s) or server administration experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Information Technology or a Computer Science related field from an accredited college or university or a Master's degree with 18 graduate credit hours in Information Technology or related field.
  • 1-2 years of College or Secondary teaching experience
  • Possess expertise and/or industry certifications in MCSE, MCSA, CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Linux+ or Red Hat (RHCT/RHCE), CCNA (or higher Cisco Networking certification), CISSP, or any combination of those listed.
  • Azure (or similar Cloud experience)
  • Knowledge of computer hardware sufficient to build and troubleshoot systems.
  • Configuration and setup of networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls)
